I ALMOST LOVE YOU investigates questions and mechanisms of representation on stage. The fascination with this subject relates not only to the context of live performance but is also anthroposophical in nature, leading to an involvement with staged performance beyond the discursive trends of dance and live performance. The performative space is used as a platform to negotiate these themes and approach concepts of representation and presence that confront previously exhausted ways. How are representational strategies applied to our emotional world? Shifting away from authenticity this performance tries to come closer to a concept of artificiality, not investigating the emotional or mental conditions themselves, but merely how they can be illustrated. It is aimed adapt itself to the given context and format, to be presented on a stage as well as within a visual art context.
